Boston Recorder Society

Welcome to our 2007 - 2008 Season!

hornucopia

The Boston Recorder Society was founded in 1955 to promote interest in the recorder and recorder playing, and to provide opportunities for players of all levels to meet others with similar interests and to develop their musical skills. We welcome recorder players, singers, string players and all other early music instrumentalists.

For our 52nd season we will continue to meet at the Painters and Allied Trades Building in Roslindale. The building is handicapped-accessible and air-conditioned. It has parking, and is near the T.

The next concert of the BRS Concert Series will take place on Saturday April 20th at 3:00 pm at the Loring-Greenough House in Jamaica Plain, MA.
Pentimento (Eric Haas, recorders and Renaissance flutes, with Olav Chris Henriksen, lute) presents - Der getreue Music-Meister (The Faithful Music Master) - We have compiled a program of music by composers represented in this publication. Telemann wrote no music for baroque lute, but included compositions by the great lutenist Sylvius Leopold Weiss as well as Ernst Gottlieb Baron in his collection. Baron wrote a number of works for baroque lute in concert with traverso, recorder, etc. We have chosen a Duet in G with flute and a fine d minor Sonata for recorder and paired these with works for the same combination by Telemann.

Help us with publicity

If you're going anywhere that recorder players or would-be recorder players might go, please print out copies of our BRS 2007 September Meeting Flyer and our "Getting Started" Poster and take it along. Libraries and community bulletin boards would be especially good places to post our literature. Thanks for helping to spread the joy!
